How cool is this? Due to a scheduling conflict at the county fairgrounds, we got to hold a dog show on the farm! It took place this past weekend, and while I was bummed that I had to miss most of it because of work and another conflict with my busy social life [grin], I did get to hang out for about an hour with the fourlegged beauties. I took some closeups of the dogs I liked best; it was a small sized show so there weren't great numbers of dogs there. And, this is the weirdest part, I ran into a competitor whom I know! But I know her from her business/hobby: she runs MediawestCon!! Yep, Lori C was there with several of her gorgeous Samoyeds. It was too funny--I knew she looked vaguely familiar, but couldn't place her, and so I went up to her and must've sounded like an idiot: "Um, where do I know you from?" (This was before I caught sight of her Sammies in their cages) Talk about out of context (CONtext, yuk yuk yuk)! I've taken pictures of many of her dogs over the years at the con, because she brings them to hang out at the hotel with her and Gordon during the convention--but I'd never expected to meet up with them at a dog show, and certainly not in my own backyard. Talk about worlds colliding. LOL! I just wished I could have stayed longer to see them actually compete in the ring. While I was there it was time for junior handlers only, so we just stood and watched.
Anyhoo, enjoy these glimpses of the showring world. Now back to work. (And more Dragoncon to come later, I'm not done with that topic yet!)
